Federal officials have cited Cooper Power Systems LLC for six OSHA violations following a chemical spill at its South Milwaukee plant that injured seven workers on Oct. 30, 2013. The citations carry a proposed penalty of $166,000.

The workers suffered chemical burns and irritation to their lungs after about 15 to 20 gallons of phosphoric/sulfuric acid was released from a hose that had been over-pressurized. The citations were given after the company failed to provide workers with protective equipment and training in hazardous material cleanup, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.
