SUMMARY:One-Day Course on “Can the Plant be made Safer by improving its Design and Operation?”
DESCRIPTION:Objective\nThe aim of the course is to promote a safer plant from the design phase through to operations. Practitioners will appreciate the inherently safer design strategies and hierarchical approach directed towards a safer plant. Continuous efforts towards safety in operations are presented. \nSynopsis\nThe approach towards a safer plant by implementing requirements from codes\, standards and best practices is addressed. Identification of hazards\, risk assessment and formal safety assessment studies are included. Topics on explosions\, fires and toxic releases and the impact on health\, safety and environment are covered. Case Studies are presented to provide lessons learnt from incidents and to ensure plants are made safer.

SUMMARY:One-Day Course on “Flammable Fluids Hazardous Area Classification and Impact on Process Areas”
DESCRIPTION:Objective\nThis course aims to develop engineers and engineering practitioners in their competencies with regard to hazardous area classification and the impact on process areas from flammable fluids. The professionals will be able to interpret and produce hazardous area classification documentation. They can assess the suitability of equipment located in explosive atmospheres. \nSynopsis\nPrinciples in fire and explosion towards safety and protection are introduced. It provides the application and interpretation of hazardous area classification based on different codes and standards. Hazardous area classification concepts\, methodology and technique are presented together with process equipment hazardous area radii. Ventilation in open and enclosed areas and their effectiveness are addressed. Product certification and equipment markings are addressed. Fire and explosion incidents and preventive measures are reviewed.
